National Gallery in Google Art Project

National Gallery is one of the first museums in Greece who cooperates with Google Cultural Institute and dispose their collections online through the Google Art Project. Google Art Project enables visitors to discover part of the permanent collection of the museum online and in high resolution, making it accessible to a global audience.

The website of the Google Art Project for the National Gallery includes major works of the permanent collection, including paintings of the great artists of the 19th and 20th century. The high resolution of the images, along with a custom zoom, gives all art lovers the opportunity to discover aspects of projects that never had the chance to see so close. Furthermore, it is important to mention that National Gallery is the first organization in the Google Art Project exhibits with Greek metadata. This initiative of the National Gallery was accomplished in collaboration with PostScriptum, which undertook the technical implementation. In this context was created the first virtual exhibition of masterpieces of Greek art of the 19th century, which is available in Greek and English.

National Gallery will present its participation in Google Art Project at the National Sculpture Gallery (Goudi Military Park, entrance on Av. Katehaki, Athens 115 25) during the press conference that will give on Thursday, June 11th at 12:00 regarding its evolution in the digital era through a set of projects that has implemented till today.
