Α competition of collaborative encyclopedia entries for Wikipedia.
The 200-year anniversary of the Greek Revolution of 1821 as well as Wikipedia’s twentieth birthday are a double inspiration for the Panhellenic School Competition for Encyclopedia Entry Writing, co organized with the ONASSIS FOUNDATION and the ONASSIS LIBRARY, GFOSS, the General States archives, the Wikipedia School in Greece. The programme is supported by the Ministry of education & religious affairs & the National Documentation Centre.
The core objective of the PAGODE project was to contribute towards the generation of a rich user experience, and high audience engagement with Europeana, by proposing a thematic approach to the aggregation, curation and presentation of Chinese cultural related content that is hosted in European museums and cultural heritage institutions.

PostScriptum completed the production and coordination of the contemporary art exhibition «Thesis-Antithesis-Synthesis. Having completed a year of implementation PAGODE-Europeana China project has completed a prime accomplishment. This project, aimed at creating a dedicated thematic space that highlights and celebrates Chinese heritage in Europe, officially launches a feature page, today, April 4th, showcasing a variety of Chinese and China-related cultural heritage items and resources from European cultural institutions such as museums, libraries and photographic archives
Inter Alia seeks for three (3) artists that reside in Greece and work in the fields of painting, sculpture, graphic design, fashion design, craftwork, and mural, to participate in the first three (3) art residencies of the ECHO II: Traditions in Transition project (one artist in each art residency). The artworks produced will be exhibited in the countries of each residence that is Hungary, Bulgaria and North Macedonia.

PostScriptum was invited among 46 finalists that will take participate “Voices of Culture”, a Structured Dialogue between the European Commission and the cultural sector. Postscriptum will share expertise, best practices and knowledge at the "‘Culture and the Sustainable Development Goals: Challenges and Opportunities’" session.
PostScriptum, in collaboration with Photoconsortium and Europeana organizes the PAGODE Technical workshop. Originally this was a project event focused on dataset enrichment and initially scheduled to take place in Athens, due to the covid-crisis this event was expanded and transformed in an online gathering on the 26th of October.
A bold new series "Small Lessons on a Large World" with Maria Efthimiou, Professor of History at the University of Athens, premieres on VOULI (HELLENIC PARLIAMENT) TV next Saturday, October 3.
The series, consisting of 54 hourly episodes, will be screened every Saturday at 18:00 and repeated every Friday at 20:00.
The World History lectures, given by Maria Efthimiou on a pro bono basis, were presented all over Greece from 2006 to 2018 to packed halls attracting large and varied audiences, representing all ages and educational backgrounds. These same lectures will now reach the wider public through a televised program.
PAGODE Project: Europe’s Chinese Collections uploaded to Europeana. PAGODE project will contribute to generating rich user experience and high audience engagement with Europeana, the European digital library, by proposing a thematic approach in the aggregation, curation and presentation of Chinese cultural heritage preserved in Europe.
Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation (PIOP) and Greek Archival Company (ΕΑΕ) coordinated a very interesting workshop entitled “New applications of archival description”. The main focus of the presentation was the AtoM (Access to Memory), an open source archival description software, which meets the needs of the users and covers the current technological requirements. Moreover, the integration of the Greek translation to AtoM was discussed.
Onassis Foundation opens to the public the digital collection of poems manuscripts, hand-compiled printed editions, prose literary works, articles, studies and notes by the poet, as well as his personal archive, including correspondence, texts and photographs. Today, everyone can discover the rich archival material, visiting the digital collection with more than 2.000 digitized archival documents.

The Hellenic Chamber of Hotels has selected PostScriptum to re-design the ‘Greek Breakfast’ portal with a new orientation to include potential visitors to Greek Hotels. What could be more appealing than a journey of the senses through a variety of sumptuous local delicacies made from pure Greek products, all at the breakfast table.
The ‘Greek Breakfast’ is an initiative by the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels to foster the participating Greek Hotels by promoting the gastronomic diversity of the country through the breakfast specialties of local destinations.

The 3d International Conference of Europeana Space started yesterday in Berlin and concludes today with the presence of all partners including PostScriptum. It is a concertation meeting where EU projects and other similar initiatives in the field of cultural heritage can meet, present and share outcomes and knowledge, and also plan joint actions and initiatives.
The European Mediterranean Conferences (EuroMed) is a biannual event organized by Digital Heritage Research Lab of Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) and has become a regular worldwide milestone on Cultural Heritage interdisciplinary research. At EuroMed Conference participants had the opportunity to experience original and innovative presentations, demonstrations, panel discussions, exhibitions and workshops.

PostScriptum had a dynamic presence in the European conference ICT Proposers’ Day Horizon 2020 - Face2Face Brokerage, which was held during the weekend of 26 and 27 September in Bratislava. The conference was organized by IDEAL-IST and the Enterprise Europe Network and was aimed to discuss and exchange ideas for proposals on projects funded by the European Union.
PostScriptums supports the Wiki Loves Monuments action, organized for the first time in Greece by annexes and the Wikimedia user groups. Thesswiki volunteers in collaboration with PostScriptum assist on organizing the competition and was in charge of the coordination of activities to enrich the entries relating to North Greece.
This season closes with two important projects for PostScriptum and digital culture: the digital strategy for the National Gallery - Alexandros Soutzos Museum and a study regarding the Digital Agenda for Culture as a guide for the use of Information and Communication Technologies in the area of culture, which was assigned to PostScriptum by DIAZOMA.
The new NSRF has already opened and PostScriptum participates in the Second Period Business Discovery launched in 2015 and organized by GSRT as a member of the Advisory Group on Innovation Platform for Culture, Tourism and the Creative Industries.
As part of the campaign that PostScriptum ran for the enrichment of the Europeana Food and Drink content, one of the most important new content providers is the National Historical Museum. The Europeana Food and Drink honors his contribution with an article about the content that will be uploaded in the coming days and its cooperation with PostScriptum.
For the fourth and final meeting, all partners of Europeana Food and Drink gathered in Budapest at 6th and 7th of June. The Hungarian Museum of Trade and Tourism (MKVM), culture sector partner within the project was the host for this meeting and welcomed all the partners by offering a culinary experience.

On April 21st between 11: 00 and 14: 30 an editathon a, under of Europeana Art History Challengewill be held at the Library of the National Gallery, with scientific guidance from the museum curators, coordinated by the Wikipedian Pavlos1988, and supported by Wikimedia UG Greece and PostScriptum.
The winner from the Open and Hybrid Publishing Business Modeling Workshop, that was organized under the Europeana Space in London, is vivl.io. Vivl.io successfully participated in HackTheBook Hackathon, which was organized by the Onassis Cultural Centre with the support of PostScriptum, as part of their participation in the Europeana Space best practice network, and earned his participation in OHP Business Modeling Workshop.

The NSRF 2014 - 2020 and the Regional Operational Programmes (ROP) that are included, are now available to the public and to cultural organizations. Culture, one of the main axes of ROP, in the new NSRF is part of the natural environment . The ultimate aim of the NSRF and the ROP are to achieve the goal of sustainable development of the Europe 2020 strategy.
The conference "Repurpose, Experience, Taste and Rethink Culture: How to creatively reuse and participate in digital culture" which was organised by the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and was supported by PS Value Talks of PostScriptum was successuflly completed. People from the area of culture and the creative industries, academians and representatives of the business world were gathered to discuss about the re-use of digital cultural content and the value of crowdsourcing as a means of promoting public participation in the collection and editing of cultural content.

With all the buzz and recent publicity created around the Project Τhesswiki we have decided to review a very interesting and up to date report by Nesta (an innovation charity) about hyper local media and the notion of hyper local sui generis. The report focuses on the UK landscape by demonstrating its hyperlocal nature and gives interesting insights about this trend.
In the context of networking and Digital Cultural Heritage community, Europeana Food and Drink and Europeana Space are joining their forces under the umbrella of Europeana and enhance their networks with new ideas and possible synergies. Thesswiki project “Wikipedia editathon: a literary walk in Thessaloniki” that was organized by the Library AUTH Information Center, ranked among the 10 best actions of promoting libraries in the 13th international competition IFLA BibLibre International Library marketing award 2016, that was organized by the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions.
On Friday 26th of February, PostScriptum organized engagement event about the Europeana Food and Drink (EFD) project in the magnificent Domaine Oenotria Land Costa Lazaridis. During the event the EFD project and the Attica Wine Trail were presented. The event aimed at bringing together representatives from the world of culture, wine, tourism, media and creative industries in order to exchange, learn and use content related to food and drink and to create dialogue on prospects and potential partnerships that may arise on the occasion of the project.
The virtual tour application at the European Cultural Centre of Delphi facilities is now available forr mobile devices and tablets on Google Play and the App Store US and the App Store US and App Store GR.

Εncouraging news for the Thesswiki project: the National Theatre of Northern Greece noticed an increase of the relative entries to Wikipedia after the realization of the Thesswiki project in September! Mr. John Anastassakis, Artistic Director of the NTNG, officially thanked the organizers of the action and made it clear that they will continue the effort we started together and will enrich it even more with further educational activities and entry writing.
Thesswiki project has now become part of the city and continues to grow! The action "Laboratory of writing articles in Wikipedia: a literary walk in Thessaloniki" which was organized by the Library and Information Center of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki was remarkably successful. The action aimed at writing articles related to poets and writers associated with the city of Thessaloniki (places of the city where novels took place or places associated with the lives of poets and writers), with the cooperation of faculty members and volunteers students of the Foundation.
In an effort to connect the public with cultural heritage, new ways of collaboration with cultural institutions and their audience arise. One of the most collaborative and highly involving practices is the idea of crowdsourcing. Crowdsourcing is a post-modern practice which encourages multiple individual interpretations pertaining to cultural heritage content and facilitates a unique connection between heritage collections and a network of individuals who are diffusing cultural content across the Web.

On 22, 23 and 24 January 2016 the Onassis Cultural Centre organizes the HackTheBook festival and redefines the book beyond the book, along with artists, designers, editors, authors, poets, developers, entrepreneurs and hackers, in collaboration with EuropeanaSpace, the Goldsmiths – University of London, the Coventry University, the Cavafy Archive and PostScriptum, with support from the GFOSS (Greek Free/Open Source Software Society). A keynote paper, published in 2011 but still a state of the art, comments on the new technological trends which have important implications for cultural heritage and tourism.
Given the recent phenomenon of heritage digitization new opportunities emerge for the heritage tourism market as well as for cultural organizations such as museums and heritage attractions.
Consumers are now facing the dynamics of pervasive technology and new types of customized, integrated experiences -which start before and end long after the actual visit- in which they are actively involved through social networking and extensive use of mobile technologies. Museums are regarded as fertile environments which have the potential to facilitate the development of such experiences by encouraging on-site discovery through online and offline means.
The White Paper, recently published by Europeana Foundation highlights the value of cultural heritage content re-use as a strategic medium for inclusive, sustainable and smart growth and encourages the creation and smart utilization of digital tools in Tourism, Research, Education and Creative Industries.
European Cultural Centre of Delphi (ECCD) and PostScriptum completed and present on Thursday, October 8th at 12: 00 at the offices of the Central Office of the Delphi Centre in Athens (Phrynichos 9, Plaka), the project "Promotion and elevation of the activities of the European Cultural Centre of Delphi through a comprehensive digital strategy", which was completed under the NSRF and the Operational Program Digital Convergence.
PostScriptum completed the project "Open Web Platforms of Arts and Letters" for the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation and Onassis Cultural Center. We celebrate Thesswiki project with the organisation of an Editathon on 26th of September. Citizens and friends of Thessaloniki from Greece and abroad will gather in order to write articles about the history and culture of the city and they will also have the opportunity for special tours in four of the most important museums of the city.

National Gallery is one of the first museums in Greece who cooperates with Google Cultural Institute and dispose their collections online through the Google Art Project. Google Art Project enables visitors to discover part of the permanent collection of the museum online and in high resolution, making it accessible to a global audience.

With great pleasure we announce the award ceremony of the Enrichment Wikipedia Contest for March 25th that will take place in the National Historical Museum, in the building of the Old House (Pl. During the ceremony the results of contest will be presented and the winners will be awarded by the organizers and the Ministry of Education.

Marlen Mouliou, lecturer in Museology (University of Athens), attempts to record the relationship between citizens and the museums through empirical data.
