ALEKOS FASSIANOS MUSEUM
Multifacetted Project
Development, organisation, digitisation, documentation, and promotion of the Alekos Fassianos archive
The “Alekos Fassianos” Museum, which opened in 2023, is a contemporary cultural space dedicated to the complete body of work of this important Greek artist, spanning from 1956 to the end of his life. Designed by Kyriakos Krokos in close collaboration with Fassianos himself, the building functions as a unified work of art, incorporating handcrafted details and the artist’s distinctive aesthetic. The permanent exhibition includes paintings, collages, objects, and archival material, highlighting themes drawn from Athens, everyday life, and Greek mythology. At the same time, the Museum implements a dynamic programme of temporary exhibitions, educational activities, and public events.
As part of the project “Development, organisation, digitisation, documentation, and promotion of the Alekos Fassianos archive,” PostScriptum undertook key actions for the management and promotion of the archival material. Specifically, it provides:
• Digitisation and documentation services, contributing to the recording, cataloguing, digitisation, and scholarly documentation of primary material.
• Digital archiving services, including the design and development of a digital preservation strategy and the provision of the MuseumPlus RIA system.
• Development of digital educational applications, aiming to enhance access to and dissemination of the Museum’s digital collection, as well as the implementation of a crowdsourcing initiative (Wikipedia).
By leveraging new technologies for the organisation, preservation, and promotion of cultural heritage, PostScriptum remains committed to its mission of accelerating the digital transformation of cultural organisations. This ensures that contemporary art remains open, accessible, and meaningfully connected to modern audiences.
The project is funded by the Ministry of Digital Governance, under the Partnership Agreement (ESPA).
