The art collection of the Museum of Modern Greek Art of the Municipality of Rhodes consists of 1500 paintings and engravings as well as many sculptures, drawings and cultural records, coming from 479 Greek artists and is fully representative of the great teachers of Greek art and their students. The collection of the Museum of Modern Greek Art of Rhodes forms a unique narrative of the modern Greek art scene of domestic art creation. With the obligatory closure of the Museum, due to the COVID19 pandemic and amid relocation works, the digital transformation proved to be an indispensable strategic goal for the Museum’s future.
Within this context PostScriptum has undertaken the production of the following:
Digitization of 100 artworks
Provision of effective and high-quality collection and museum management by installing an easy-to-learn interfacecollection management system
Design and development of the online collection
Production of themed vidcasts that will guide the digital audience through selected routes within the permanent collection, offering alternative visiting experiences
Establishment of new channels of communication for the dissemination of the action
The overall aim of the project is experience enhancement of the museum visit, either in situ or digital, as well as the audience development via digital means.
The project aspires to promote the collection of the Museum, a legacy of modern Greek and European culture. It is sponsored and is implemented under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
