Regional Operational Programmes NSRF 2014 - 2020

The NSRF 2014 - 2020 is now available to the public and to organizations. It includes 13 multi-sector and multi-fund Regional Operational Programmes (ROP), which correspond to each of the Greek Regions. The programmes include regional scale projects and actions building on local assets. They are financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and European Social Fund (ESF). Their common point is to strengthen the capacity of regional and local authorities to implement a full range of actions that aim to serve the main priorities of the NSRF.

Culture was and it is one of the main axes of ROP. The difference in the new NSRF is that the cultural heritage is part of the natural environment. It is considered that a viable or sustainable tourism (which in the previous ROP was linked to culture) is supported by these actions and is the main purpose.

Natural and cultural resources are:

  • lever for growth and preservation of the identity of regional and urban spatial entities
  • improving the quality factor of life of residents, the attractiveness of the area as a place of residence and tourism etc.

The main objective of the ROP for cultural and natural heritage is to protect and promote it, to increasing the number of visitors and promote the cultural profile. It is important that the projects that will be implemented to have a positive impact on the growth potential of the region, as well as economic growth and job creation.

The ultimate aim of this is to achieve the goal of sustainable development of the Europe 2020 strategy.
